SS15 New York & London

So for our homework we have to research 2 looks, one from New York SS15 fashion week, and one from London SS15 fashion week. First up New York; 

Vera Wang:
I absolutely loved this collection, it was really beautiful and luxurious, and I felt everything had an almost enchanting and magical edge to it, from the stunning backdrop of black roses, to the flow and movement of the garments, then the hair and make-up worked so well to complete the look.

Make-up: 
The main focus was on the eyes, obviously the bold smoky lilac that Vera Wang went for would have worked pretty well on its own for keeping the eyes a the main point of focus, but by keeping the rest of the face to a bare minimum it really did compliment them even more.

Lucia Pieroni did the make-up using Cle De Peau a Japanese make-up brand. She applied a plum shade from their Moon Beam Eye Colour, on the middle of the top and bottom eyelids then blended it up and out, leaving no hard lines, which I really like as I think it gives a feminine edge to quite a monochromatic collection, which has this certain masculinity about it, it creates a really good balance.

There was a small amount of mascara applied to the roots of the bottom lashes, I think it works really well, because the lilac was so gorgeous that if a heavy mascara or eye-liner had been applied it would have removed your attention from the lids and that would have been a shame!

One the face Lucia Pieroni used Cle De Peau Beaute Radiant Powder Foundation, and layered Luminizing Face Enhancer, onto the cheekbones, forehead and nose, she then applied their 210 lipstick (nude) to the lips. I think the combination of the foundation chosen and the Luminizing face powder was amazing, as the foundation itself was very natural in appearance but also matt which I think is really important in this look, because when the Luminizing Face Enhancer is used over the top it really stands out and brings the face to life in a lovely natural way, it's not over the top, just gives off a glow and shine when the light hits it.

Nails: 
Were Jin Soon Choi's own polish in Tulle colour, they were also very natural and classic with the top gloss used giving off a nice shine.

Hair: 
The hair I love love loved! Paul Hanlon created the look, it was quite messy waves, with 2 plaits either side of the nape of the neck they started off as fishtail braid ending with a basic 3 strand plait, they were almost hidden beneath the hair, it definitely had a bohemian festival sort of vibe but I think it really worked.
Paul Hanlon created the hair by applying OSiS+ Grip Extreme Hold Mousse to damp hair, dry using a brush, keeping the roots flat to the head, once hair dried he took large sections and curled to create waves using a curling tong, he then used BC Oil Potion Finishing Treatment to smooth hair. He then took a small section of hair at the nape of the neck, directly under the ear, and fishtailed halfway, ending with a 3 strand plait, he made sure the braids weren't too clean and ruffled them up a bit to get the shabby chic vibe. He then used OSiS+ Session Label Silk Shine Cream to add texture and shine to the hair, and lastly he finished off with OSiS+ Session Label Flexible Hold Hairspray, for a long lasting hold.

Everything together as a whole looked amazing and was really mesmerizing especially with the music they walked to as well which was mixed by Frederic Sanchez and was rather hypnotic.
Vera was inspired by 1700 era France, which you can see in fabric techniques there's alot of layers, pleating, rouching, and embroidery.

Overall I thought the look was amazing, it really had an impact after watching it, you definitely wouldn't forget it! The only thing I would change is applying a light gloss over the lip, I just feel it would complete  the face and keep with the clean look, I feel it would also link in really well with the shine from Cle De Peau Luminizing Face Enhancer, the tulle nails and also the swarovski crystals that we saw!

London Fashion week SS15 Erdem

I have chosen Erdem to write about as I really loved the final look it was so organic, and natural. The pureness brought a real honesty to it. All the models had their hair pulled back into braids, and very natural make-up with a pinched cheek effect. The collection itself featured lots of prints, feathers, silk and lace and alot of green, cream and brown colours, it channels nature. Think rainforest.

The collection flows really beautifully and the garments are very feminine and have great movement. Some of the models wore gladiator sandals, so feet were exposed which added to the natural theme.

Make-up: 
Val Garland was the woman behind the face, she created a wonderful fresh dewy face, with lovely fresh flushed cheeks, it almost looks as if the models permanently live outdoors and they've all just emerged, out of the forest. 

Val used NARS Stick Concealer, Radiant Creamy Concealer, Loose Powder, along with Siam Matt Multiple, Exumas Matt Multiple, and Copacabana Multiple in Rose and Apricot tones, the Copacabana was also used on the eyes, she also used Bouthan Duo Eye shadow, & Luxor Multiple. Siam Matt Multiple, and Luxor Multiple were used on the lips to give a bit of a shine.

Nails: 
They were done by Jenny Draper, they were painted in an unmanicured way to give the impression that the girls had painted their own nails.

Hair:
Anthony Turner did the hair in one clean long braid, which went over the ears, in an almost Victorian manner, matched with a middle parting, the only product used was L'Oreal Professional Mythic Oil to add a rich shine to the hair.

I really like the combination of everything and I feel it was the right decision to leave the eyes understated as I think that if the eyes were made up it would look too busy with the cheeks as well & would also have taken away from the natural look being portrayed. I definitely wouldn't have changed anything the look they created fitted the brief perfectly. Although I do feel that one of the first looks Anthony Turner presented to Erdem; which was a messier version of the braid would have also worked really well and if anything would have looked more organic, in terms of the humidity in the rainforest and the general elements of the outdoors, and how they would effect the hair.
